Kaamos in English

The Kaamos Chamber Choir was founded in 2007 and is one of the newest ensembles in the Helsinki area. The choir consists of experienced choral singers who come from a wide variety of backgrounds. In June 2011, the choir participated in the chorus review at the Tampere Vocal Music Festival, where it was granted the rarely awarded Grand Prix and the highest accolade of three gold stamps. In 2010, Kaamos performed with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and made its first concert tour inside Finland. That year the choir also made its first trip abroad to Austria. There, Kaamos participated in the 47th International Choir Competition in Spittal an der Drau, where it was awarded with the third prize in both the classical music and folk music categories. In 2009, the choir participated in the 3rd International Harald Andersén Chamber Choir Competition in Helsinki.

Kaamos's repertoire focuses on European a cappella works from German Romantic to Scandinavian contemporary, also including early music. A full list of the choir's performed repertoire since 2008 can be found in the Finnish section of the website. Kaamos gives concerts both by itself and with other ensembles. The choir is conducted by Dani Juris.

Dani Juris is a Finnish choral conductor with an international background reaching to South America, the Middle East, Great Britain and Central Europe.
